Graco DuoGlider Twin Stroller – a ‘best value’ stroller

Like all of us, new parents are struggling in these poor economic times, they have to save money where they can. Parents who have twins or two young children are not immune to economics. When it comes to purchasing a stroller for their little ones, parents are shopping around for used strollers and ‘best value’ new strollers. A ‘best value’ stroller is a stroller that is feature-packed AND affordably priced. If you’re one of these parents, then the Graco DuoGlider stroller just might be what you’re looking for.

The DuoGlider is a tandem stroller for two children who weigh up to 40 lbs each. The DuoGlider is a very popular stroller that offers plenty of features – but it won’t cost you an arm and a leg.

The DuoGlider stroller can be used to transport young infants in infant car seats and it can be used to carry up to 80 pounds of growing kids… In addition to accommodating infants and older children, the DuoGlider stroller offers a wide variety of features… features that you’d normally get in a stroller that costs three times as much as the DuoGlider stroller.

All in all, the DuoGlider offers you years of good solid strolling – it’s a great value.

Key Features

The DuoGlider stroller features a unique seating arrangement. The rear seat has two reclining positions, fully reclined and fully upright. The front seat offers multi-position reclining capability and the rear seat sits higher than the front seat, which, in turn, gives the rear passenger a great view.

A feature that many parents rave about is DuoGlider’s Infant car seat compatibility. DuoGlider’s front and rear seats accommodate the SnugRide® and Infant SafeSeat™ Car Seats.

Another key feature of the DuoGlider is the drop down storage basket.  Graco has perfected stroller storage with their drop-down storage basket which can be lowered for easy access.

Maneuverability

The DuoGlider stroller is only 20” wide. This narrow form factor makes it quite easy for parents to negotiate crowds – whether you’re at the grocery store or at the zoo, you’ll find easy strolling. With DuoGlider’s swivel / lockable front wheels you can easily steer the DuoGlider stroller even when it’s packed to the brim with gear and, of course, with your children. One reviewer put it quite simply “It maneuvers like a dream!”

The DuoGlider stroller folds differently than single strollers, this should be expected because its so much bigger than a single stroller.  But what’s unexpected is that, like all Graco strollers, it can be folded and stored with one hand. This feature is ideal for parents who always seem to have their hands full.

Protective hoods

The DuoGlider stroller has two removable canopies which helps your little ones to see. The DuoGlider also features a Peek-a-boo canopy – which helps you to see.

√ Pros

  • The seats can be used for infants with infant car seats and they can be used for two children up to 40 pounds each.
  • The rear seat is elevated making it easy for the rear-seated child to see.
  • The large storage basket is easy to access
  • The rear seat theater seating is priceless – your rear passenger gets a view equal to the front passenger.

X Cons

  • The rear seat only has two positions, fully reclined and fully upright. Parents who reviewed the DuoGlider expressed their interest in a multi-position rear seat.
  • The rear seat has an arm-rest but no snack / drink tray.
  • Parents have complained about the plastic wobbly wheels – poor wear and an uncomfortable ride.
  • Some parents say that the DuoGlider Twin stroller isn’t durable

Recommendation

The Stroller Shop recommends the DuoGlider stroller to parents who want lots of functionality at a bargain price point. The DuoGlider is indeed a stroller with lots of great features and it has a price point that’s ideal for parents on a tight budget. Some parents, however, complained about durability – this is perhaps the trade-off you’ll have to make: Durability versus affordability.
