Graco Metrolite Stroller
The Graco Metrolite stroller is ‘The Little Stroller That Could’. The Metrolite stroller is indeed a lightweight stroller but don’t tell that to the folks at Graco. The Metrolite stroller has all of the features you’d expect from a much larger stroller such as a fully reclining seat, child and parent trays, height adjustable handles and a large 10lb capacity storage basket.
The Metrolite stroller is compatible with Graco’s SnugRide, SnugRide 32, and Infant SafeSeat car seat systems – so parents, infants as well as toddlers can enjoy the benefits of the Metrolite stroller.
Metrolite Stroller Comfort
The “never flat” rubber tires on the Graco Metrolite stroller combined with its suspension system smooth’s out the bumps in the road – which gives your child a great ride.
Metrolite’s multiple position reclining seat works really well. If you read consumer reviews on the Internet you’ll see complaints about access, or the lack thereof, to the storage basket when the seat is fully reclined. Graco has fixed this problem with their new drop down basket – parents can now access the basket without disturbing their child.
One complaint that I hear from parents all the time deals with the height of the stroller handles. This, fortunately, is not a problem with the Graco Metrolite stroller which features height adjustable padded handles. Parents of various heights are all enjoying this feature.
The ability to stand your folded Metrolite stroller upright makes it so much easier to travelers. You can stand it up next to your table in restaurants and you don’t have to bend over to pick it up. Simple design features like this one make strolling much easier in the long run.
Metrolite Stroller Maneuverability
The Graco Metrolite stroller has large, lockable front swivel wheels, a suspension system and a strong aluminum frame – these features plus the stroller’s minimal weight makes the Metrolite stroller highly maneuverable.
Metrolite Stroller Functionality
Graco advertises “One hand operation” – to open and close the stroller… a feature of the Metrolite stroller. And you can indeed open and close your stroller with one hand. That is, if your strong and well practiced. In reality for most of us, one hand operation is not practical… put your iced latte down, make sure that your stroller is open and in a locked position before you place your child in the stroller.
It only makes sense to get things out of the way when loading your child into the stroller. The child tray easily pivots out to the way when you buckle your child into the stroller.
Access to the drop-down storage basket is easy. Simply lower the back of the ‘drop down’ baskets and store / retrieve up to 10 lbs worth of gear without disturbing your child.
Metrolite Stroller Safety
The Graco Metrolite stroller gets high marks when it comes to safety. It has a 3 – 5 point safety harness which can be adjusted to accommodate your child’s height.
The head support device that is attached to the 5 point harness is great for infants – it safely holds your child’s heat upright until he or she develops those neck muscles. The head support device can be easily removed for older children.
The locking brakes work great. They hold a stationary stroller secure and they easily lock and unlock.
Metrolite Stroller Pros
- The height adjustable padded handles are great.
- The easy access to the large storage basket makes strolling so much better.
- The light weight, highly maneuverable, stroller with standard stroller features is definitely a Pro.
- The ability to stand the folded stroller upright makes for easy storage
Metrolite Stroller Cons
- It’d be great to have a bit more room for parents’ keys, cell phones, wallets, etc. a storage pouch mounted to the parent tray would be ideal.
- A few moms that I communicated with indicated that their stroller fabric faded when they cleaned it. Do use caution when cleaning your stroller, don’t use harsh cleaners – use mild soap and warm water.
Metrolite Stroller Recommendation
I have to give the Graco Metrolite Stroller 5 out of 5 stars. I would definitely recommend this stroller to my friends and family. The Metrolite stroller might be the last stroller you’ll ever buy. With its great maneuverability, compactness and weight, combined with its infant car seat compatibility – the Graco Metrolite stroller is ideal for families with new arrivals.
