Joovy Zoom – for Sports Enthusiasts

The Joovy Zoom is a strong / sturdy jogging stroller. Weighing in at 27 pounds it might seem heavy at first glance, but for a jogging stroller this is actually a good weight. The Zoom jogging stroller is built with aircraft-grade aluminum and durable fabric. This jogger is definitely built for the sports enthusiast.

The Zoom comes equipped with 3” shock absorbing springs that give your child an ultra-smooth ride. In addition to a smooth ride, there are other comfort features that you and your child will enjoy. The Zoom jogger comes equipped with an oversized canopy, a neoprene parent organizer with cup holders & storage pocket, a good sized storage basket and a custom-fit rain cover.

The Zoom jogging stroller comes in two distinct models – the Zoom ATS and the Zoom 360. The key difference between these two models is the front wheel. While the ATS model has a large 16” fixed position front wheel for stability, the 360 model has a 12” front lockable swivel wheel for maneuverability.

I really like the large fixed front wheel for jogging, the Zoom jogger goes where you point it. To turn the jogger you simply push down on the handle which, in turn, lifts the front wheel off the ground, while the wheel is off the ground you simply point your jogger where you want to go. In other words, you ‘pop a wheelie’. It’s that easy.

The disadvantage to having a fixed front wheel is maneuverability. Let’s say that you jog to the grocery store to buy some milk… getting to the store is a breeze but once in the store the jogger quickly becomes a burden. A fixed wheel jogger is hard to maneuver in tight quarters. Enter the Joovy Zoom 360, this jogger has a locking front swivel wheel for jogging stability and the 360 degree swivel wheel gives you ’grocery store maneuverability’.

Jogging strollers don’t fold into a compact form factor. If you are used to small umbrella strollers, you’ll be a bit shocked at the size of a folded Zoom jogger. You see, jogging strollers have to be sturdy, strong and stable and the trade-offs are size and weight. There is, however, some good news, the Zoom jogger folds and unfolds quite easily. To fold the Zoom jogger you simply press a lever that is located under the seat and pull up on the jogger’s release handle. Your Zoom jogger locks into its folded position. After folding your Zoom jogger, you can quickly and easily remove the pneumatic wheels; this makes it easy to transport your jogger.

The Zoom jogger comes with many safety features that you’d normally find in standard strollers. These features include a height adjustable 5-point safety harness, a foot operated parking brake, a safety tether, and because the Joovy Zoom jogger will let you get away from the crowds, having an on board tire pump for flat tire maintenance is fantastic. Even if you never have to use it… the on-board tire pump will give you piece of mind.

In addition to the 5-point safety harness, the seat on the Zoom jogger is unique in that it can recline.  Most joggers on the market today don’t have this capability. The seat can be adjusted to either the fully-upright or the fully-reclined position. Another unique attribute that the seat has is a mesh seat. The seat is made of mesh material that keeps your child cool on summer jogs.

Above the seat you will find a large canopy that does a great job protecting your child from the direct sun.  And when the sun is low in the sky, your canopy has a sun visor that can be extended another 10”. The canopy also features a peek-a-boo flap that lets you keep an eye on your little jogger. And let’s not forget the rain cover that’s custom fit for the Zoom jogger – Joovy includes the rain cover with all Zoom joggers.

One popular feature is the parent organizer. Joovy has invented a clever parent organizer that looks good and it’s very useful. The parent organizer is made of neoprene material, it holds 2 cups and it has a storage pocket with a zipper closer. The parent organizer gets stretched over the jogger’s handle – it stays in place and it keeps your cups and gear in place even on the most aggressive runs.
